RE: 55 MPH no!

In Illinois the speed limit is 55 for all TV pulling a trailer. This speed limit is for most if not all trucks where the weight is over 4 tons. Even if you are pulling a Pop Up ,this 55 limit applies to you, in most areas.
That is true in California also, regardless of how many RVs you see pulling a tow car going 70 MPH

So how do you know

if you car is tow'able. Looks like we might need to take our car with us next month, we have a 2002 Hyundai and a 2002 Honda Civic and if I'm going to invest in a tow bar, I need to find out if I can first.
Thanks in advance

RE: Are we unreasonable? Recent Camping experience...

The father was out of line. The next time his kids call an adult a party pooper or something worse, he has no one to blame but himself.

RE: I need camping 101 help

We are going dry camping end of May and the place has nothing except trees and pit toilets. About 10 miles from it is a reststop with a dump. Is that water drinkable? Coud we fill up the water tanks there?

RE: RV Parks Are Raising Their Prices

You know, I was out last weekend and the park we stayed at was full and it was cold and snowing. I don't think folks are staying away either... I think they are just staying closer to home.

RE: Refrigerator Odors

I had an electric problem and the freezer defrosted... well to say the least..stinky. I washed it all out with vinegar water which helped some, then I put in a couple boxes of soda which didn't work as well, then I dumped the soda in the freezer and got it in every nook and cranny I could find and that helped. Then finally I went to WalMart (I think) and bought a refrigerator thingie that was made with charcole and now my freezer smells like new.
How do you like that for tech talk. LOL

RE: Campground advertising?

There are some campground review sites that allow the owners to post. Also, why don't they become members of Good Sam, Passport America and clubs like that.

RE: Snobby Campgrounds

There is nothing more boring than an RV park where you don't see folks hanging around outside. Thats why we love state parks, county parks etc. Kids are out playing, folks are building campfires, hanging out at the lakes, fishing, hiking. Then you see the parking lot RV parks, no one is out, they are all sitting in their RV watching TV.
To each his own I guess..

RE: Are there any RVing Geologists/Geoscientists out there?

I'm a retired geologist RVing, and know at least a half dozen others who RV, camp, or find other excuses to be outdoors.
I've learned not to try to lecture on geology to people who don't care. Some friends in China took me to Yunnan, to hike into Tiger Leaping Gorge. I kept stopping to look at structure and mineralogy, they tolerated that. When I explained what I was looking at, why it was interesting to trace a fault from one side of the gorge to another, they shook their heads and walked on.
Different people have different interests.
Where are you when I need you. I still don't understand what a HooDoo is!!
The reason we love RVing is so we can check out the areas geology, history, wildlife refuges', bird life, etc. You can't see any of that when your sitting at home.
